2.                      Mini Training Moment - Importing an Updated Resume

When an Applicant / Candidate revises their resume, it is simple to attach it to the existing StaffSoft record.

a.                Open the résumé in the word processor.

b.                Toggle back to the StaffSoft program > Applicants /Candidates screen and find the record for the person whose résumé you would like to import.

c.                From  the upper menu choose Resume > Import.

d.                The word processor will reopen and display  "Is this the résumé you would like to import for [name]?" If the  document opened is the correct one then respond YES to the "Yes"/"No" option

e.                If StaffSoft recognizes additional skills in the imported résumé that do not exist in the Applicant's current profile and prompts, " "Would you like to update the applicant skills from the new résumé?" Respond to the "YES"/ "NO" option. .

3.            Commonly Asked Questions -

 -     In the Job Order screen there is a new checkbox for CARRY OVER.  What does that do?

When creating a Job Order for a temporary job there are two options for dates: As Soon As Possible (ASAP) and Start and End Dates .  Checking the Carry Over box  migrates the Start and End dates  to the Candidate Search and the Assignment for... screens.  Of course, once in those screens you can edit the dates as necessary.

  -      On www.summit-sw.com/staffsoft the new Windows Me (Millennium) edition is not listed as a supported operating system.  Why?

Windows Me is designed to be a home user application and does not have the imbedded features and functions that has made Microsoft's other operating systems common fare for office environments.

4.      Administrator's Utility Review - Backup Basics by Leo Laporte at ZDNet

[This month we are tapping into some nerdy stuff.  Yet, I cannot stress how important a backup of your data is!  Nothing is so gut twisting as a StaffCare customer who calls after a computer crash pleading for help.  Mr. Laporte enumerates everything I would want to say, and his article is easy to read.  Although he has targeted the single user, you will find the information herein valuable and the advice timely.  Now I'm breaking convention here and pointing you below to the complete article (address below).  It is worth the time to read.    Johnnie Tate]

"Your hard disk will crash. Count on it. It happens to everyone eventually. And when it does you will be glad you have a backup copy of all your data. You do have an up-to-date backup, don't you? You don't? Never fear. Here are the simple rules of data recovery for people who hate to back up.

I strongly recommend using some form of removable media for your backup. If you can't take it with you, it's not a backup. I know a famous author who lost an entire novel because her backups were stored next to the computer when her house burned to the ground. You can back up to floppy disks if you have no other choice, but floppies aren't reliable for long-term archival storage. And filling dozens of floppies is so time consuming, most people will put off backing up until it's too late."

5.       Manager's Moment - Technical Support Pricing

Most of you see the benefit of the annual $1,200.00 StaffCare Technical Support Contract and value being able to pick up the phone and have your concern addressed by the great support team here!  We strive to be the most responsive technical support team in the staffing software industry.  For the last 12 months our response / call back rate is 96% within one hour and customer problem resolution success rate is 99%.  Sadly, many have allowed their subscription to lapse and are shocked when presented with the pay-as-you-go option.

The cost of Technical Support for non-StaffCare subscribers is $35.00 per 10-minute increment, one half hour minimum charge.  That is upward of $105.00 per call.  Credit card information must be given in advance.  We accept all major credit cards.

Regardless of the plan you choose, the professionalism of our staff and quality of service will be excellent.  We look forward to serving you!

Johnnie Tate, Technical Support Manager
